Mrs. Nellie KRITZ STRAUGHN 76 wife of Dr. WL Straughn, well known Crawfordsville physician, died at 2:30 a.m. Wed. at the family home 520 E. Main St. She had been an invalid since 1936 when she suffered a broken hip. Mrs. Straughn was born Jan 11, 1877 at Waveland where she resided until she moved to Crawfordsville with her family 34 years ago. Her father was Professor Henry S. KRITZ, founder of the Waveland Academy and member of the Wabash College faculty for 27 years. Her mother was Mary BRUSH. Mrs. Straughn was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church and Athens Chapter of OES. She married Dr. Straughn Nov 5, 1902. Dr. Straughn practiced medicine at Waveland and Crawfordsville many years. He retired a few years ago after serving as medical examiner for the Ben Hur Life Association. Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen PATTERSON of Crawfordsville and two sisters, Mrs. George Cown and Mrs. Albert Kleiser, both of Waveland and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 3:30 Friday at Machledt Funeral Home with burial in the Maple Ridge Cemetery. Dr. J. Harry Cotton of Wabash College assisted by Rev. Robert D. Braby of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, Crawfordsville, officiated. - transcribed by kbz

As we go to press, news came of the death of Mrs. Lee STRAUGHAN, wife of Dr. [W.] Lee Straughan who was a physician in Waveland for a number of years but now of Crawfordsville, retired. Mrs. Straughn who has two sisters living in Waveland, Mrs. George Cowan and Mrs. Kleiser has been an invalid and bedfast for a number of years. - kbz
